Canada - Gros Morne National Park
Situated on the west coast of Newfoundland, Gros Morne National Park provides
a rare example of the process of continental drift, where deep ocean crust
and the rocks of the earth's mantle lie exposed. More recent glacial action
has resulted in spectacular scenery with fjords, glacial valleys, tall cliffs,
waterfalls and many pristine lakes.
The Park was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. Visitors
can hike
through wild, uninhabited mountains and explore the coastal areas on unparalleled
beauty. Colourful nearby fishing villages complete the phenomenal natural
and cultural surroundings of the Gros Morne NP. Norris
Point is such a place, located on the north shores of Bonne Bay. It
is easily accessible by car.
