Prairie with golden bean and in bloom, Grasslands National Park (East Block).
Southern Saskatchewan received unusually high levels of moisture over the winter and early spring of 2011. As a result, grasslands in this part of the province were very green and covered in a lush carpet of spring wildflowers. In June of that year I made a trip to the badlands of East Block near Kildeer. The flowers were beautiful, although not as abundant as I was hoping for – probably the lack of heat had some influence. This image was taken just before sunrise near the area called Zahursky’s Point, south of McGowan’s campground.
