Ranch buildings at the Old Man on His Back Prairie and Heritage Conservation Area. Photographed one calm evening in June. One of the buildings houses a beautiful interpretive centre with stories on history of the ranch and information about wildlife that can be found on the Northern Great Plains of southern Saskatchewan. Nature Conservancy of Canada is managing this 13,135 acre (5,316 hectare) property in effort to protect a piece of fragile mixed prairie grasslands. Photography field trip to Cranberry Flats Conservation Area

Last week I led an outdoor photography field trip for members of the Saskatoon Nature Society. We had a very good turnout – 17 people showed up. The weather was great; blue skies with interesting clouds greeted us upon arrival, with a bit of cloud cover later on in the evening. Although we did not get a spectacular sunset, a soft light from overcast skies allowed us to focus on details in nature.
