Landscape Photography Workshop a success

Big thank you to enthusiastic photographers who attended the Landscape Photography and Basic Digital Workflow photo workshop on Sunday. We had a full slate of participants not only from the Saskatoon area, but places further away;  Beverly and Gail drove up from Regina, and Patricia came from Big River.

The format that I chose for half-day photo workshops at the Ancient Spirals Retreat is working as planned. We had an introductory tutorial where I covered the topic of  ‘light in the landscape’. After a short break with treats, I talked about the basics of digital capture and then demonstrated my usual workflow for capturing, organizing and managing digital photographs. I also demonstrated a few simple steps for processing digital images using Lightroom and Photoshop software.

Clouds cleared up half-way through the program and we were treated with gorgeous warm evening light for the outdoor component of the workshop. Even the full moon showed up, as scheduled.

The upcoming Fall Colours and the Use of Filters in Outdoor Photography workshop this September will have a shorter tutorial portion; emphasis will be on the outdoor component and review of participant’s images.

By coincidence, there is a great (free) webinar by a freelance travel photographer Gavin Gough just posted on Photoshelter’s Blog: From Camera to Delivery: Streamlining Your Digital Workflow. The presentation is one hour long and full of very useful tips. Check it out.
