Cypress Hills photography workshop

September 21 - 23, 2018

Cypress Hills photography workshop focuses on landscape and outdoor photography. Our goal for the workshop is to bring together keen photographers to explore this special region of Saskatchewan, exercise their creative side and return home with memorable images.

We will spend a weekend in one of the most spectacular places in southwest Saskatchewan at the beginning of fall colour season (see a gallery of images from Cypress Hills).

The instructional portion of the workshop will include image reviews and post-processing exercise using Adobe Lightroom. You will have an opportunity to share your experience and knowledge with the group, and exchange ideas with fellow photographers during image review sessions.

What to expect: the Cypress Hills photography workshop focuses on landscape and outdoor photography. The event is suitable for photographers with intermediate and advanced photography skills. Because we do so much photography during the day and review images in the afternoon, novice photographers will also find this workshop beneficial for advancement of their photography skills.

To ensure personal attention and maximize the learning outcome, size of the group is limited to a maximum of 5 participants.

Please bring a camera and lenses that you usually use, spare camera batteries and a battery charger, enough memory cards to get you through the weekend, and a sturdy tripod. If you can, bring a laptop for image editing and review. Most locations will be readily accessible from the road, although we may hike short distances over uneven terrain; bring sturdy boots with sufficient ankle support. And something that you can wear in the morning and not get wet. I usually bring rubber boots and change to regular shoes when the grass dries out. Dress in layers and bring a warm jacket for morning photography.

Cost: $495 (based on double occupancy, $550 with single room)

What is included: the photography workshop fee includes photography guide, two nights of accommodation at the Spring Valley Guest Ranch (link: http://www.springvalleyguestranch.com) , dinner on Friday and Saturday evening and full breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning. Light snacks and coffee will be provided before the morning shoot.

What is not included: cost of remaining meals are not included in the photo workshop fee. We have an option to eat lunches at the Resort at Cypress Hills (link: http://www.visitcypresshills.ca/shop-dine/dining/the-resort-at-cypress-hills) or visit several restaurants in nearby Maple Creek (link: http://www.visitcypresshills.ca/shop-dine/dining). Participants are responsible for their own transportation. Car-pooling is possible and encouraged.
