Half-day photography workshops in the Saskatoon area

I will be leading a series of half-day photography workshops suitable for novice and intermediate level photographers. The idea is to have a short informative lecture on various topics and then go out in the field and practice what we have learned. After about two hours of outdoor photography, we will return to the lecture room, have a snack and take part in a group review of images captured that day. Based on the positive experience from earlier workshops, I am incorporating the exchange and sharing experience as an important learning tool. It is amazing to see how people can perceive and photograph the same subject in different, personal way. You will be asking yourself “Wow, how come I did not see this..”

The photography workshops will be held at the Ancient Spirals Retreat, approximately 20 km south of Saskatoon. The Retreat has a nice lecture room, common area and a small kitchen. We will be photographing outdoors – the property is set on 30 acres of forested rolling hills along the South Saskatchewan River. I set up the 2013 workshop series to take place very close to full moon. Keen participants can stay longer to capture that perfect shot of full moon rising above the fields.

The group size is kept to a maximum of 6 participants, to allow for sufficient instructor – student interaction time. Come prepared with that nagging question about your camera features, exposure or composition. Or any other photography – related question that you need an answer for.

How to register: if you are interested in attending, please call Branimir at 306-382-2642 or send an e-mail to branimir [at] shaw.ca  You can also register and pay your workshop fee with a credit card using a secure on-line transaction.

Fall Colours and the Use of Filters in Outdoor Photography

Sunday, 15. September 2013
Time: 3:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

We will take advantage of the beautiful surroundings to photograph fall colours along the South Saskatchewan River. I will show the use of various filters in outdoor photography. Although digital imaging is allowing photographers to have greater control over the creative process, there are a few tools in the bag that can not be simulated or replaced by digital wizardry such as polarizing filters, neutral density and graduated filters (I will show why you should not completely rely on the “graduate filter” feature in Photoshop or Lightroom). The instructional part of the  workshop will focus on the elements of  composition and visual design with a special emphasis on the use of colour.

Workshop registration fee: $65
