In the summer of 2012 I joined a group of 14 photographers on a two week-long photo tour of Iceland. This island country in northern Altantic is relatively small, but offers an amazing array of opportunities for landscape photography: vast glaciers with calving icebergs, stark volcanic lava beds, bubbling hot mud pools and countless waterfalls. Although exhausted from being constantly on the road in the land of midnight sun where we had only 2 hours of darkness, I was in photography heaven.
A free eBook with images from photographers taking part in this photo adventure has been recently released. Each photographer presents a small portfolio of images, including a description on where the image was taken and a short story about it. It is interesting to see how some photographs, although initially appearing to be similar, offer a unique glimpse to individual photographer’s vision. It was a great experience for me to stand side-by-side with fellow photographers and learn, breathe and live photography for two weeks. Thank you all for sharing many great moments.
With photo contributions from tour participants, this astounding eBook was produced by Darwin Wiggett, Samantha Chrysanthou and Stephen DesRoches and can be downloaded from www.oopoomoo.com
Do not forget: I will be giving a presentation titled “Iceland – a Photographer’s Dream” for the Saskatoon Camera Club on October 23, 2012 at 7 p.m. Open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend.
