Outdoor and travel photography workshop

11. August 2019

Following a successful run in Regina earlier this spring, I will be offering the Outdoor and Travel Photography Workshop in Saskatoon, Sask. This photo workshop will provide you with a foundation of digital image capture and processing, and help you prepare for traveling as a photographer. It will inspire and enable you to improve your photography skills and take authentic and more meaningful travel photographs.

The Outdoor and Travel Photography Workshop is aimed at novice and photographers with intermediate skill levels.

Date: August 11, 2019
Time: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Location: Queen’s House Retreat & Renewal Centre, 601 Taylor Street, Saskatoon SK.
Cost: $95 / person (includes lunch)

By completing this workshop, you will gain necessary knowledge and skills to understand how digital cameras see and record light, how to visualize and compose your images, and master creative use of lenses and camera settings to control perspective and depth of field. We will stress the importance of recognizing and using light, learn to simplify and isolate, and how to capture the decisive moment. To help novice photographers, we will cover the basic camera operations, and how you can creatively apply camera controls.

In the second part of the workshop, we will help you prepare to take authentic and more meaningful travel photographs. We will discuss gear and how to pack for the journey. We will go over trip planning and preparations to help you enjoy the time spent in new, often unfamiliar places. The course will teach you how to return home with compelling photography stories rather than random postcard snapshots. We will complete the course by covering the essentials of digital image workflow, editing, image backup and preparing images for print or online use.
