World Rivers Day 2012
September 30th is the World Rivers Day, celebrated annually throughout the world. The City of Saskatoon has proclaimed this day as the World Rivers Day 2012 in Saskatoon. Communities in Canada and internationally organize events to acknowledge the importance of river systems and raise awareness of the importance of river conservation and to promote positive river stewardship. I will be leading an Outdoor and Nature Photography Workshop on Saturday, September 22, 2012. This photo workshop is geared towards novice and intermediate level photographers. There will be several hours of tutorials and a hands-on photography outing in late afternoon and evening. We will explore and photograph beautiful river valley landscapes along the North Saskatchewan River at Shekinah Retreat Centre. Fall colours along South Saskatchewan River at Wanuskewin Heritage Park, Saskatoon. This image was taken on the east edge of the Opimihaw Creek valley, very close to a spot where eroding action of the South Saskatchewan River forms steep cliffs called Cathedral Peak. A 1.3 km long Trail of the Buffalo leads from the Information centre to a rest stop with a bench, and a magnificent view of the valley & South Saskatchewan River below. Close-up of fall colours in Wanuskewin Heritage Park, Saskatoon. This images was taken along the walking trail in Opimihaw Creek valley. Patchy forest stands of balsam poplar, green ash, Manitoba maple, trembling aspen and birch offer a variety of colour when the season is right.
