Wild about Saskatoon – 2014 NatureCity Festival field trip
I will be leading a nature photography field trip to Saskatoon’s Northeast Swale on Sunday, May 25, 2014 from 4 to 6 p.m. We will explore a beautiful natural prairie landscape at the north edge of town and focus out lenses on wild critters and close-up details. This field trip is part of the Wild about Saskatoon NatureCity Festival and there is no charge to join. Last month was quite busy and productive. Several magazine articles with my images appeared in print. In December of 2013, the Canadian government announced an emergency order to enhance protection of the critically endangered Greater Sage Grouse . The order would restrict certain types of industrial activity (like gravel, oil or gas extraction, construction of new roads etc.) during important parts of the Sage Grouse’s life cycle and adopting land use practices in areas near the Sage Grouse habitat that could impact the dwindling populations.
