Two weeks in Iceland – free eBook

In the summer of 2012 I joined a group of 14 photographers on a two week-long photo tour of Iceland. This island country in northern Altantic is relatively small, but offers an amazing array of opportunities for landscape photography: vast glaciers with calving icebergs, stark volcanic lava beds, bubbling hot mud pools and countless waterfalls. Although exhausted from being constantly on the road in the land of midnight sun where we had only 2 hours of darkness, I was in photography heaven.     A free eBook with images from photographers taking part in this photo adventure has been...

Kayaking on river Kupa, Croatia

On the last day of my holidays in Croatia, I decided to escape the heat and signed up for a kayaking trip down river Kupa. This beautiful river flows through rugged mountains of Gorski Kotar region in central Croatia. The source of river Kupa is located within the boundaries of Risnjak National Park. With its turquoise waters and bountiful plant and animal life, the Kupa spring is one the most beautiful wellsprings in Croatia. First 25 km of the river flow is fast, passing through a narrow canyon of St. Ana. A set of 5 rapids provide for a challenging rafting adventure during high water...

On holidays in Croatia

The web site has been neglected for a while as I was on holidays in Croatia, visiting my family. It was a very peaceful holiday, without too many activities. I had to recharge the batteries after a few busy months. And the school year will be starting again soon. I made a mistake of going to Europe in August. Last few years have been extremely hot, and 2012 was no exception. Air temperature the day I arrived in Zagreb was 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit). That is very hot for a person used to gentle 25 C – 30 C summers. Needless to stay, I did not venture out of the house...

Maple Creek Ranch Rodeo

Maple Creek Ranch Rodeo

I enjoy visiting and photographing rodeos in smaller centres throughout Saskatchewan. My favourites are rodeos taking place in Maple Creek and Wood Mountain. The Wood Mountain Stampede is Canada’s longest continuously running rodeo, this year entering its’ 123rd season. Much longer than a better-advertised Calgary Stampede. This year I decided to try something different. I went to see the 25th Annual Ranch Rodeo in Maple Creek. The Ranch Rodeo is slightly different than your average rodeo. It is designed to replicate the usual activities and duties cowboys have to perform while...
